West Orange will soon be home to another Eagle Scout. Brandon Chen, of Troop 2, is installing Little Food Pantries around town as part of his Eagle Scout Project.
As Board President, I am often invited to attend the Eagle Courts of Honor for our Eagle Scouts, and it is always a privilege and an honor to do so. I was a Scout when I was younger – although I did not attain the rank of Eagle.
But it was as a Scout that I learned the importance of service, and it’s part of the reason why I continue to serve my community today.
Most recently, I attended the Eagle Court of Honor for Babacar Halsey (seen above) in August. Earlier, in June, I attend a Court of Honor for Julian Pare.
Both of these young men are a tribute to their families and to our community. The fact that so many of our young people grow up to become Eagle scouts should be a source of pride for us all.
